City networks call for recognition of the role of local authorities in climate protection

Joint letter to the European Council

In a common letter to the European Council, European city networks call for the recognition of the role and contribution of local and regional governments in climate protection.

These city networks propose that the importance of local and regional authorities in climate protection should be recognised in the European Union's position for the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, which will be passed during the meeting of the European Council from 18 - 19 June.

Furthermore, they recommend to the EU Council to support the draft proposal for the climate conference in Copenhagen by European and International city networks.
