ZOOM campaign 2008 - The starting signal has been given

On 4 March 2008 the official starting signal for the 2008 ZOOM campaign has been given. For that a delegation of children from Austria (of Bregenz and Rust) travelled to the UN Climate Change Secretariat in Bonn. Richard Kinley, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Secretariat, cordially welcomed and thanked them for their commi-
tment against climate change.

After six years' big success the ZOOM campaign once again invites children all over Europe to make their daily journeys independently and in an environment-friendly way. By collecting so called Green Footprints all over Europe, the children will show the "big ones", what the "small ones" do for the protection of the global climate!

A total of 128,000 children participated in the 2007 ZOOM campaign. They came from Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and even children in Australia, New Zealand, on the Fiji Islands and Samoa joined them. They collected a total of 1,457,039 Green Footprints - a symbolic journey 36 times around the world.
