Route 2010
This year the route being traveled with Green Footprints can be either the linear distance from your municipality to Mexico or the kilometers needed for our joint climate voyage around the world (see below)
Individual route to Mexico
You want to use the direct line? So calculate the distance between your city and Mexico - this will be your route 2010. For example: the distance from Climate Alliance's European Secretariat in Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Mexico is 9.570 km.
Perhaps your school/nursery is to small to travel such a distance alone? Ask for support in your municipality! Or just calculate how much of the way you achieved in percent.
A list with distances from European Capitals to Mexico you can find here (pdf 15 kb)

Joint Climate Voyage around the One World
Our symbolic voyage starts at the UNFCCC Secretariat in Bonn, Germany and - travelling once around the One World - will end at the next UN Climate Conference in Mexico. We will go via North America, The Artic, North Asia, Oceania, Australia, Southeast Asia, Africa, South America and will then end at the conference's venue in Mexico. This equals around 70,000 km - a distance you might only reach with the help of friends.
On each continent we will have a short stopover to find out more about the world's climate situation. We will find polar bears that need to swim and orang-utans suffering for our toilet paper. We will meet several children sharing their climate problemes with us. And we will get to know more about reasons for climate change.
A map with our Climate Voyage Route you find here (pdf, 250 kb),
A list with exact distances from stopover to stopover you get here (pdf, 15 kb)
Join in on our symbolic journey around the world to learn more about the world's climate situation.
Ask further schools and kindergartens in your municpality, ask in your neighbouring commune or at your foreign twinned schools to collect Green Footprints, too!
Each journey to school or nursery absolved on foot, by bicycle, skater, bus or tram counts one Green Footprint. To simplify matters, we assume that each journey or Green Footprint corresponds to 1 km. So, all Green Footprints reported to Climate Alliance will be added, hoping that the kids will collect even more Green Footprints than in 2009!
If your city, municipality, school, kindergarten, ... has participated in the Green Footprints campaign, send an email to zoom@climatealliance.org and
- tell us the number of Green Footprints you have collected
- send us reports and pictures of your activities so we can public your activities on our website.
